With an average of ten years
experience focusing on the buy side, our team hits the ground
running. Our people have extensive knowledge of hundreds of software platforms
and the operations needed to run them. Many senior team members, prior
to joining CarbonBased, had instrumental roles in the development of the
software platforms that are now some of the standard bearers
of the industry or were leading members of many household name investment
management firms. Chief Executive Officer & President 646-432-3322 Brian has been a practicing investment management professional for nearly twenty years. He is actively involved in client matters, concentrating on providing needed guidance and execution to Investment Managers, Hedge Funds and Fund of Funds, develop product, distribution channels and the operations and infrastructure required to support them. Prior to founding CarbonBased, Brian was a principal at Data Exchange Inc, overseeing the rollout of the industries first integrated and relational portfolio accounting and trade order systems called WinDx & WinDx Trader. He also served on the company’s planning and management committees and in the fall of 1996, the company was sold to Advent Software, Inc. Prior to that he spent 4 years with Lehman Brothers in New York, working under Tom Phelan, as a lead technology equity analyst and as an Associate Portfolio Manager investing for the Lehman Growth & Income Fund with $2.5BB AUM. Brian also served as a Researcher and Developer at Quantitative Analysis Services, Inc. from 1988 through 1991. Mr. Shapiro graduated from New York University’s Executive MBA program, in 1994 earning his Masters in Business Administration. He has at previous periods been a Registered Series 7, 24 & 63 investments principal. Donna D’Alessandro Senior Consultant (646) 432 3334 Donna D'Alessandro is a financial professional with over 25 years of broad-based experience in the securities industry including 21 years in hedge funds. She is a senior Consultant at CarbonBased Consulting responsible for providing start-up guidance to new managers, policy procedure development and compliance advice. Most recently, Donna oversaw all operations as the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Compliance Officer/Chief Operating Officer at Aremet Capital Management, LLC where she worked with the founders to launch an energy hedge fund and implemented the firm's operations and business systems. Prior to this, Donna was the COO at Avery Partners LP, an event driven hedge fund that concentrated in merger arbitrage that's AUM grew from $7 million at inception to $450 million in four years. During her tenure, Donna developed a marketing strategy and presentation materials that resulted in broad shareholder diversification and oversaw the majority of the firm’s operations and business systems including the portfolio management and accounting systems. She has held senior positions at Andco Securities, Marquette De Bary Co, and Drexel Burnham Lambert. Donna graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. Politics and Sociology and has completed courses in accounting and financial analysis at Harvard University and New York University. She is a public notary. |
